Lightning Arrester

The HS 50 -50 Lighting Arrester is designed for special installations in industrial buildings where a permanent operating voltage with a maximum value of 440 V AC is required. It is installed in the main switchboards of large industrial buildings and where the direct lightning strike is in danger.

HZ110 is a lightning arrester type 1 according to EN 61643-11 and IEC 61643-11. This is recommended for use in the Lightning Protection Zones Concept at the boundaries of LPZ 0 – 1 (according to IEC 1312-1 and EN 62305), where it provides the equipotential bonding and discharge of both, the lightning current and the switching surge, which are generated in power supply systems entering the building. The lightning arrester is constructed as an encapsulated, non-exhaust, multiple spark gap, which does not have any special requirements for installation in the main switchboards in terms of the gas exhaustion generated during the passage of the lightning current. HZ110 is mainly intended for use in the power lines, which are operated as a system TN-C.

• PIV is lightning arrester type 1 according to EN 61643-11 and IEC 61643-1. These arresters are recommended for use in the Lightning Protection Zones Concept at the boundaries of LPZ 0 – 1 (according to IEC 1312-1 and EN 62305) for lightning current equipotential bonding and elimination of switching surges that originate in power supply systems entering the building.
• The PIV is mainly intended for use in TNC systems. For TNS and TT systems it is necessary to combine these arresters with lightning arrester B25, B50 or B80 which are intended for equipotential bonding between N and PE.
• The main use of PIV12,5 arrester is in structures of LPL III – IV according to EN 62305, e.g. residential houses with cable supply and subdistribution boards of big industrial structures.

• When the SPC PV DS is operating correctly, the terminations 1-2 are connected to normally closed contacts, 2-3 are normally open. If the internal varistor component is damaged as a result of thermal overloading, terminations 1-2 will then be open and 2-3 closed.

HS100i is a Spark Gap Lightning Arrester 1 and class I according to EN 61643-11 and IEC 61643-1. These are recommended for use in the Lightning Protection Zones Concept at the boundaries of LPZ 0 to 2 (according to IEC 1312-1 and EN 62305) for lightning current equipotential bonding in power supply systems entering the building. Type 1 lightning current arresters are used for lightning protection equipotential bonding to VDE 0185-305 (IEC 62305). The lightning current arresters are constructed as an encapsulated spark gap technology for installation in main switchboards. For TNS and TT systems it is necessary to combine these arresters with lightning current arrester HS50-50i which is recommended for equipotential bonding between N and PE. The main use of HS100i is in industrial installations such as transformers, the main switchboards of large industrial buildings and places with high risk of a direct lightning strike and with an external lightning protection of the highest class I to IV. It is also suitable for applications in unmeasured parts of electrical installation.

• The Stormaster ESE air terminal uses the naturally occurring electrical field to complete the timely release of an upwardstreamer.
• This process provides for a safe and efficient method of controlling dangerous lightning energy at a preferred point.
• As a thunderstorm gathers overhead, the ambient electrical field surrounding the Stormaster ESE begins to rise involtage.
• Upon the approach of a downward leader towards the protected area, there is a rapid increase in the electric field which initiates the triggering of an upward streamer from the Stormaster ESE terminal.
• The early initiation allows for a larger or enhanced area of protection to be provided by the Stormaster ESE in comparison to a conventional rod, in accordance with NF C 17-102 (2011).
• With the release of the upward streamer from the finial tip earlier than other competing structural points, the Stormaster ESE terminal becomes a preferred point for the capture of the lightning discharge within the protected area.

• Throughout the product development of the Stormaster ESE the proto-type models were subjected to intense testing under high voltage conditions.
• Following further refinements the Stormaster terminals were subjected to final testing by an independently accredited test laboratory which completed testing in full compliance with the French National Standard NF C 17-102 (2011).
• The final testing of Stormaster ESE terminals showed effective performance as defined in this Standard. LPI Stormaster ESE lightning air terminal is tested & certified from CPRI (Central Power Research Institute),Bangalore, Government of India.
